‘Cuz of Jeremy

Hello fellow readers.

I have been unfaithful to this blog. I have good reasons(yeah, right). :)

The good news is, I have restarted blogging again.

The bad is, its not here, its on  http://elcavillo.tumblr.com/

I just started so be patient. The reason for the change is simple. I do not have the time for longer, more deep posts. but would like to still share, what is happening with me/us, good and bad, fun and sad.

So update it to the new tumblr address.
THANKS.

Laci

“There and back again”

So, I have been to the European Leadership Forum. IT WAS AMAZING!
It was one of the best, most encouraging, equipping times in my life.
What made it so different? It is hard to discribe.
A fact is that I was desperate for girection, guidence, decisions.

Ministry is VERY complex lately, with many GOOD, but new challenges. I needed the knowledge, the resources, the experience of all the guys in different countries and ministries!
It was exciting to exchange information!

A HUGE “THANK U” to all of those involved in it any way. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HEARTS!

Laci ne of the first comers.

p.s. who says that Hungarian language is hard?

Look at the name of this place in Hungary?

Even I was shocked… being a native Hungarian. :)

ELF

Elves are mythical beings. You can meet them in Tolkiens: Lord of the rings, and in many other literature.

This time it is not myth. I am actually going to a Conference that is called European Leadership Forum. It is organized in Eger, Hungary and:

1, I got invited to it, by several dear friends in ministry

2. GOD provided for it through dear missionaries, who have offered from what they do not have…

Yes, it brought tears to my eyes…and yes, I am very excited, what GOD has prepared there for me…

Since I have never been there, I go with no expectations… and I am “afraid” I will be blessed like crazy.

Will see if I will get a chance to tweet or Blog from there.

Thanx for your prayers.

Laci will surely miss Queen Keri and the 3 princesses! :)

THE OTHER WAY ARROUND

I have been to a Hard Core show recently.

It was an AMAZING SHOW! VERY PROFESSIONAL!

It was a good warm up for June 8th when P.O.D. is coming to Budapest. It helped me realize that I am slowly but surely becoming an old (fart) guy.

Then just recently I found out, that few Hungarians, who are already reaching out to HC/Punk kids to take it to a new level and possibly launching the Central European Whosoevers group. Anyhow, they asked me to consider being the Spiritual leader and overseer of the group, Spritual leading of the team, devotions for the coming blog… etc. I am praying and considering… it is just weird. What exactly?

When I was screaming in a Hardcore band I was desperate to reach the youth. GOD did not opened any doors towards the youth. Instead he has sent me to the Elderly home to reach them. Now that I do not necessary feel so “in” with the youth, GOD is opening doors. In October ’10, I got the privilage to share with the Evangelical/ Penthecostal youth of Eastern Croatia. Now this.

So I am not sure what GOD is doing. I am surely amazed at GODs love, and it is truly a privilage to serve HIM. It is awesome to see changed lives… and it is great to be a little part of it. But whats the logic? why the other way arround? What in the world????

Laci who “works” the other way arround :)

Reading/writing as a sign of good shape

When there are no new blogposts here… you should assume Laci is too busy. If you consider yourself as his friend, please warn him. If he is not writing, he is probably not reading either.

Reading and writing is a huge part of Spiritual Discipleship.

Just recently I got to read 2 books. 1 in Hungarian and 1 in English. I will spare you of the Hungarian one here.

The other book was Dave Kraft’s: Leaders who last.

I would like to post few thoughts that had tremendous impact on me lately.

Remember that the power comes through you, not from you.

Are you a person of a strong inner character who can be trusted?

Service is the rent we pay for our space in life, motivated by the love of Jesus.

“99% of leadership failures are failures of character”

We need to be constantly learning, growing, stretching, getting out of our comfort zones, reading new things and trying new thing.

Writing keeps me spiritually alive and alert, so that I can faithfully respond to the LORD and his Word and stay relevant to my culture.

If no one is following, you are taking a walk by yourself.

Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” Warren B. Bennis

BEWARE OF THESE 3 THINGS:

1. Lack of vision

2. A vision that is not clear

3. Commuunicating the visioninconsistently or ineffectively

You can impress people from a distance, but you can impact them only up close.” Howard Hendricks

“To grow by addition, you recruit more followers. To grow by mulgtiplication you add more leaders.”

It takes one to know one, to show one, and to grow one. Materials, books, seminars, and conferences won’t make leaders. Leaders make leaders.

I hope you got few thoughts to ponder. I will try to make it back here in approximately a week…

Laci who enjoys more balance and harmony in his life…

p.s. Off to read John C. Maxwell: Developing the Leader within you.

Laci is.

We are here to inform you, that Laci is. We know that for sure.

He claims to follow his Master, who claims for Himself to be the “I AM”.

If you start to get confused, well don’t be. Laci is. :)

On a more serious note.

The second part of the year 2010 was fully unbalanced. I was working hard on the Radio part of my present ministry.

I quickly realized, that my Family is suffering. So since mid December I cut back on that to recover my family. Then the church and ministry in South Budapest was neglected… As family started recovering, now for the past weeks I am trying to get back on schedule and actually I try to do a little more with ministry that is more church related.

Family is as well as never before. The radio ministry is under controll (timewise as I am concerned, otherwise its blossoming like crazy). Trying to fix now issues I caused with this in the church, try to fix my communication and also my QUALITY time with the disciples.

If it makes sense, good. If it does not. E-mail me. :)

Here is a snapshot of a morning in Budapest:

For some reason the sunrise is the first thing I start to like in this city.

(Put a smile of your choice here) I am not sure about my feelings about our life here.

But here is the list of those, who have played a significant role in me “surviving” first close to 2 years:

- GOD

- a menthor (in my case Tom Foley)

- a great wife (in my case Keri)

- good books: Dave Kraft, John Maxwell, …)

- Friends ( I miss you. I wish I would spend more time with you guys)

So how is Laci? I guess after few hardships, few storms, Laci is… where he needs to be, and I think  he starts finding his place. I think.

Landmine and Smog

Dear Lea,

It has been 6 years ago today, that you have arrived. Our life has never been the same again.

Today you are through the first third of your childhood. It has been quite a journey.

Not too many kids got to learn what a landmine is or what is the smog alarm.

You learn easy. We love the fact that you work hard not to loose your knowledge of the Croatian language. We love that you press hard to learn English.

You are a great ballet dancer.

You are a true sweetheart. How sweet? Two words are the key: Help and give. Those two are driving you.

We are also proud that your best friends are Gypsies, Africans and Vietnamies.

You are a treasure chest. We have discovered few of the talents that GOD has put into you, but we look forward to discover all that is still in you.

We love you!

Dad and mom

p.s.

Probably our favorite sentence from your first 6 years was, when one morning right after you woke up, asked: “dad, where are we traveling today?

Pray for non-historical churches in Hungary

The so called “christian Governemnt” that I do not believe in is trying to pass a bill that would CLOSE DOWN MANY protestant Churches.

Read this letter:

Dear Brothers!

In the event that someone haven’t heard yet, I want to draw your attention to a proposed change regarding the status of churches in Hungary. I will try to be objective, but I foresee that I won’t be able to fully meet my own expectations.

A new proposal was revealed yesterday (September 29, 2010) to alter Act IV. of 1990. regarding the freedom of conscience, religion, and churches (http://videotar.mtv.hu/Videok/2010/09/29/08/Vege_az_egyhaz_biznisznek__szigoritana_a_kormany_az.aspx). The government will basically ask every church to re-register, but only churches who have more than 10,000 members or those that are historical churches will be allowed to remain churches. Since the current government coalition has two-thirds majority they are able to change even laws that require a qualified majority, so basically they can change things the way it suits their (and their supporters’ ) best interest.

Based on personal income tax donations, currently there are 6 to 7 churches in Hungary that could still remain churches. Calvary Chapel is the nineteenth  on the list with 1,253 individuals who made donations (the full list is here: http://www.apeh.hu/szja1_1/kimutat/2010_rend_egyh_kiem.html).

On account of their historicity some more churches will be able to retain their status as a church, but unless something changes, Calvary Chapel will not be able to continue as a church. This can have some serious consequences (the list is not exhaustive):

  • Foreigners serving in the churches and students will have a much harder time receiving visas.
  • If Calvary Chapel isn’t going to be a church, it will not be able to offer any kind of education (accredited or not), kindergartens and elementary schools included.
  • The congregation will not be able to offer donations under the present tax-deductible system.
    • Based on last year’s tax data, the state would save 353 million forints in a year (or 35 forints per citizen annually) if they deny giving the status of a church to smaller congregations. All the while a total of almost 5 billion forints were paid out to the largest churches (the Hungarian Catholic Church received 3 billion forints, the Reformed Church of Hungary received 1 billion forints)
    • All these seem to point in the same direction, namely that someone will be appointed to declare who (which organizations) is capable of declaring moral and other guidelines / teaching, who is able to guide spiritually, or serve as an example. In the future, when preaching the Word of God as we understand it, the state (that is, the majority of society) will not regard that as a religious activity. So in the future when I go to Calvary Chapel I will not be considered a Christian in the eyes of the society, which is already the opinion of the Hungarian Catholic Church (http://www.lmrkat.hu/szektak.html), meaning that I will not be protected by the freedoms given to me currently on account of freedom of conscience and religion.

THANK YOU FOR PRAYING!!!!

We will not give up!!! We will fight!
